Technically, as pointed out to me by RBA, the fruit of the 'luma' tree (Amomyrtus luma), possibly related to the word 'kochü-' for sweet. See Lenz's Diccionario Etimológico Nº 159 where the form 'cauchahue' is given next to 'cauchao'
